Living Abstinent Groups are educational support groups for people with eating addictions. The focus in Living Abstinent Groups is on understanding eating disorders as an addictive disease, breaking the dieting mentality, and dealing with body image by applying spiritual principles in our daily lives.

Primary Issues Covered:

  • Finding a bottom line
  • Eating to nourish, not to control
  • Facing moderation
  • Maintenance as a reality
  • What about exercise?
  • Relapse attitudes and indicators
  • Body image issues
  • Identifying how we've "used" our addiction

Secondary Issues Covered

  • Letting go of "needing" our disease
  • Identifying and releasing old ideas
  • Establishing sane and sound beliefs
  • Separating codependency issues from body image issues
  • Embracing the concept of ceasing to fight anything or anyone
